Today started big with a visit to the Centro Regional de Profesores del Este with host teacher Simone. Students who were studying to teach English gave us a presentation about the methodologies and structure of English education in Uruguay, as well as the ideas around the restructuring of the program. Students were very proficient in English and it was very interesting. Again, the progressive blended learning model really stood out to me, as well as the plan of birth through high school for at least a working knowledge of English was impressive. I was in the spotlight today as I gave a talk about assessment strategies that I use in my art classroom as we critique each other and promote metacognition. These are concerns foremost in the mind of teacher trainees as their system changes to project based learning. It is difficult and I don't envy their challenges moving forward.

Next we went to the home and studio of famous artist Manolo Lima, who was a generous artists who lived, painted, and hosted many students and friends here. Lima built the house with his own hands and it was like stepping into a story book.
